CPR Courses

Basic Lifesaving Skills in Vancouver offers BLS courses from the Heart and Stroke Foundation to meet the needs of students in health care.
CPR for nursing & med students
Langara, BCIT, UBC, Kwantlen, Douglas, VCC: This BLS course is offered to nursing & med students who need annual CPR certification at a discounted rate. The student will receive certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), which includes the latest resuscitation science for improved patient outcomes, the new 2020 guidelines, use of AED, and airway management for adults, children, and infants.
CPR-C & AED (Heartsaver CPR with AED)
Ideal for public schools teachers, youth workers, church or community volunteers, and families with children, infants, or seniors. Heartsaver® is the Canadian standard in CPR and AED training. This course is designed for everyday Canadians who don’t have medical training but want to learn how to respond to a cardiac or respiratory arrest at home, in public, or at work.
BLS for healthcare providers
Designed for healthcare providers and first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of both in-facility and pre-hospital settings or by those that require BLS certification and CPR & AED training to enter into a healthcare-related training program. BLS offers the latest 2020 resuscitation guidelines, single and team rescue techniques for adults, children, and infants.

Basic Lifesaving Skills Instructors

Drisanna is a certified instructor for Heart & Stroke Foundation's CPR courses and a qualitative n95 fit tester for health care workers. Drisanna is also an emergency-certified RN, taught Emergency Nursing at BCIT, served as the CPR instructor for all health care staff at BC Children's and Women's hospital, and is currently an educator for the BSN program at Langara College.

 

Brandon is a Registered Nurse working on a Medical/ Surgical floor and a previous First Responder. He worked for 2 years teaching students certified under the Canadian Red Cross basic first aid and CPR content and is now actively certified to teach the Heart and Stroke Foundations CPR courses.

Courses are held at various locations (Langara College, BCIT, On-site work spaces)
